Sometimes you just wake up craving the something so specific. The other day, for me it was a Rice Krispie Square. This used to be one of my favourite treats growing up.

I knew there had to be a way to make them healthier than your traditional Krispie Treat that has tons of refined sugar, gelatin, mystery ingredients and poor quality grains. So, while at the Grocery Store I found Nature’s Path Organic Crispy Rice Cereal and Dandies All-Natural Marshmallows.

Nature’s Path makes a ton of great cereal & granola choices that make your grocery buying decisions easier. You can have peace of mind when reading their labels and choosing their products for your family. Their Crispy Rice Cereal in particular is made from Brown Rice Cereal, is gluten free, non-GMO & organic. A better alternative to your traditional Rice Krispy Cereal that has white rice, suar, malt flavouring etc.

Now – you can only make Marshmallows so healthy, that is why these Rice Crispy Treats are Healthy(er). Dandies Marshmallows however are free of gelatin, high fructose corn syrup, are gluten free and vegan.

For the butter, I opted for my favourite Grass-fed Butter, Kiwi Pure from Rolling Meadow Dairy. It’s made from Grass-fed New Zealand Cows, is free from antibiotics and has an improved omega 6:3 ratio vs. conventional milk. Only ingredient is cream(milk).

Sometimes the classic treats from your childhood can’t be completely guilt free, but usually there is a way to step up the recipe and eliminate some of the harmful ingredients! So this is still a treat, and shouldn’t be consumed on the regular or as a staple in your meal plan. But every once in a while… just treat yourself.
