**Maca Powder**

“Maca is a tubercle that grows in the high Andean mountains at more than 4000 meters high. This arid mountain food is particularly known for its ability to increase libido and sexual vigor. Powerful aphrodisiac, maca is used in Peru to treat problem with impotency, loss of fertility, chronic fatigue, stress, memory and concentration problems, allergies and even menopausal symptoms.

Important source of amino acids, iron and calcium, maca powder is an essential food that can help maintain optimal liver and bone health. Important food for vegan and raw foodies, this powder is also consumed by athletes, chefs and used in molecular gastronomy.

Consume 1 to 3 teaspoons a day then stop your consumption for a week every month.”

For this recipe you will need:

  • 10 Medjool Dates, pitted
  • 1/2 cup raw pecans
  • 1/2 cup raw walnuts
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut (+ a bit more to roll the balls)
  • 1/4 cup cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup carob powder*
  • 1 tsp maca powder
  • 1 tsp ground true cinnamon
  • 1 pinch seal salt
  • 1/8 cup real maple syrup

* When I made this recipe I didn’t have carob powder, so I substituted cacao powder instead. Using 1/2 cup cacao powder total. Also, I used pretty much all Pranana products for this recipe! I can’t get enough 🙂

Mix all ingredients in a food processor, while slowly adding the maple syrup. Blend until all ingredients are well mixed and the dough is sticky. Using your hands, shape the dough into little balls and roll them in shredded coconut. Store in an air tight container in the fridge.

I found it made it a bit easier, by starting with the pecans and walnuts, and processing them into small chunks and then adding the remaining ingredients. I also placed the finished energy balls into the fridge and let them set for 45 minutes to an hour.
